HOLLYWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD CHANGE

In recent years, Hollywood has been a hotbed for both residential and commercial development. Many residents are worried that future development will result in fewer apartments with affordable rents, and will be out of character with the existing look and feel of the community.

Small businesses have also felt the pinch. Mom-and-pop retailers, community health clinics, non-profit organizations, theaters, and post-production facilities struggle with the uncertainty of rising rents and possible displacement. There is a real concern that the new commercial space being constructed will not be affordable to anyone but national retailers.

Community members are left asking – "Will there be a place for ´HOLLYWOOD´ in the new Hollywood?" The Hollywood HD-OD will work with to track changes happening in Hollywood over time, and help local residents and businesses take advantage of these changes. We will also make the results of our research easily accessible to the public through a community indicators project and an annual report card.
